Joy Mason is a main character on In the Dark. She is the adoptive mother of Murphy Mason, however, unlike her partner, Hank Mason, she is less accepting of Murphy's poor life choices.
History[]
Joy and Hank adopted Murphy. They loved and cherished her even when she becomes blind from retinitis pigmentosa. They even build a center called Guiding Hope for her.
Throughout the series[]
Joy is shown to love Murphy unconditionally however, that didn't mean she approved of Murphy's choices. In one instance she would be disgusted by Murphy when she had sex with the husband of one of their clients. In another she was scared by the fact that Murphy would try to find out who killed her friend, Tyson Parker.
Things would get even worse when Murphy is wanted for the murder of Nia Bailey. When Murphy has Joy to pick her up Joy and her get into a big fight. Things are even worse when Murphy finds out that her mom was planning to turn her over to the police.
She would later be a witness in Murphy's trial.
