The second season of In the Dark was renewed by the CW April 2019. It began airing April 16, 2020. Ahead of season two, the CW renewed the series for a third season, which would follow the second.

- The season was originally scheduled to premiere on May 28, 2020;[1] however, on March 26, 2020, the premiere date was later pushed up to April 16 due to the unexpected shortening of the second season of Legacies.[2]
